Oliver Ringelhahn was born in Austria, near Vienna, and completed his musical studies at the Musikhochschule in Vienna, after being a member of the Altenburger Sängerknaben under the baton of Prof. Leopold Friedl. His performances as Pedrillo/Die Entführung aus dem Serail in Vienna established him as an important new artist and this was developed further when he appeared with a fest contract at the Landestheater Linz. Furtheron he was invited to be a member of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich. In the season 2000/01 he made bis highly successful debut at the Volksoper Wien with Ernesto/Don Pasquale. A fest contract followed for very important roles like David/Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Peter Iwanow/Zar und Zimmermann and Alfred/Die Fledermaus. In the season 2003/04 he was going to be a member of the Sächsische Staatsoper in Dresden, where he made several significant debuts: Andres/Wozzeck, Pong/Turandot, David/Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Steuermann/Der Fliegende Holländer, Henry/Die Schweigsame Frau, Matteo/Arabella, Offizier/Cardillac and Gringoire/Notre Dame.

 

During the time as a permanent member he was regularly invited to do guestings all over the world, like Tanzmeister in Geneve, Valzacchi/Der Rosenkavalier in Genua, Marseille and Tokyo, Don Polidoro/La finta semplice and Baron Lummer/Intermezzo at the Theater an der Wien, Peter Iwanow/Zar und Zimmermann and Matteo/Arabella at the Staatsoper Hamburg, Matteo/Arabella, 1. Jude/Salome at the Staatsoper Wien, Don Curzio/Le nozze di Figaro at the Salzburg Festival and Matteo/Arabella at the New National Theatre Tokyo and Hamburg.

 

Now Oliver is freelance and living in Austria, near Vienna, again.

 

In the summer 2018 he is going to sing the main title roll, Adam in the famous operetta "Der Vogelhändler" at the Schlossfestspiele Langenlois.

 

2018/19 he sings the New years concerts in Edmonton and Calgary with the well known production, Salute to vienna.

 

Oliver Ringelhahn appears regularly in concert. Recent appearances have included Elias in Sao Paulo with Christian Gerhaher and Lindberghflug with HK Gruber in Dessau and Leipzig. He made his debut with 7 Todsünden at the Luzern Festival.

 

In concert and opera Oliver Ringelhahn has worked closely with numerous renown conductors: Gerd Albrecht, Marc Albrecht, Philippe Auguin, Michael Boder, Ivor Bolton, Alfred  Eschwe, Lawrence Foster, Riccardo Frizza, Daniele Gatti, Sascha Götzel, HK Gruber, Hartmut Haenchen, Daniel Harding, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Fabio Luisi, Jun Märkl, Ernst Märzendorfer, Sir Charles Mackerras, Cornelius Meister, Kent Nagano, John Neschling, Erwin Ortner, Kirill Petrenko, Marc Piollet, Wolfgang Rennert, Ulf Schirmer, Peter Schneider, Martin Sieghart, Pinchas Steinberg, Jeffrey Tate, Michael Tilson-Thomas, Marcello Viotti, Sebastian Weigle, Ralf Weikert and Franz Welser-Möst.

 

The following DVD productions are available: From the Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden Der RosenkavalierRigoletto and The merry WidowLe nozze di Figaro from Salzburg Festival 2006. Der Fliegende Holländer from Nederlandse opera is now available.
